Grenouer - The Odour O' Folly / Gravehead album cover

First of all, I would like to say that the line up mentioned above is the current one. Back then, the band used the services of drummer Sergey Lialin (in both albums) and guitarists Alexander Schatov (in "Gravehead") and Alexander Sokolov (in "The Odour O' Folly"). This comment was just to avoid any misunderstanding that may be caused. Anyway, one CD containing both albums, huh? Let's see...

I have to admit that GRENOUER is a band that never managed to amaze me or show me anything worth my interest. Their music always had some nice ideas that were unfortunately lost in their chaotic sound. These guys are considered to be one of the very few Russian bands that are known worldwide, but to tell you the truth if it wasn't for Metal Temple I would have never heard of them. Anyway, judging from the stats I got from several sites I didn't get the feeling that these guys have so many fans that this reissue was something indispensable to the Metal scene. Are there really so many people out there who can't wait to lay their hand son this release?

The band's music is a weird style of Thrash/Death Metal with Industrial touches, but the fact is that the production was so weak for this kind of music and the songs had such "loose" structure that never managed to get me into the atmosphere. Their music needed a bit more work back then, since you come across songs that feature the Industrial cold, groovy patterns that are interrupted by totally old school Thrash riffs, something that doesn't make any real sense since it never gives you the time to "absorb" the music.

Anyway, as I said above I don't know if there are so many people that wanted those two releases so bad...
