Gotthard

Some bands are incredibly awesome but are able to disappoint you while performing live. Other bands suck but are better on stage. Gotthard belong to another category of bands. They are great in their releases and fucking rule on stage... Does anyone disagree? I don't see any hands raised.
For all of you who don't know a thing about the band, Gotthard are named after the biggest railway tunnel that runs through the base of the Alps between Switzerland and Italy. It's been less than a year since their latest studio release, Lipservice(2005). The contract with Nuclear Blast Records seems to have helped them a lot. Their reputation is steadily growing and Gotthard are ready to take over the world, starting with this live album that has been recorded in - where else than their home country - Switzerland.
So, it's the first time I hear Gotthard performing live and I must admit that I am incredibly surprised! These guys are capable of setting the stage on fire, as they do in this live album. They are a band with the required power, creativity and balls to drive the crowd wild. The sound is nice indeed, something that makes the songs sound more than live!!! In times where music seems to be running out of authenticity, Gotthard are the ones to raise the flag of Hard Rock/Glam Metal high. High enough to be visible by every single metalhead.
Who would expect something like this? Gotthard play some cover songs? Anyone can do this! But not when it comes to Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. Hush and Immigrant Song require guts in order to be performed live. Did anyone think that Gotthard wouldn't make it? They play the songs as if they were their own compositions. I can't say that they are played better than the original versions just because I will start receiving threats over the phone!
There are two limited editions. The first contains the CD with a bonus DVD and the second contains the DVD with a bonus CD.
