Albums can suffer from something along the lines of too many influences or to better describe it, too many sounds. FEAR OF DOMINATION is fascinating to someone who's heard so many different styles in which I never thought I would be hearing a mix of Symphonic, Industrial, Melodic Death Metal and that's for a reason, it's too many styles. "Atlas" is going to try and prove me wrong, try and tell me "here's this sonic masterpiece that will take sounds you like and mix them with sounds you don't like and make an awesome new sound that you'll be able to find great." Anyways, here's an album with a bunch of different sounds and let's see if it works.

The opening tracks "Misery" and "Divided" practically spell out what this album has to offer from the get go. The intro ("Misery") has an Industrial meets CRADLE OF FILTH style of spoken work before thrusting you into a mix of Symphonic and Melodic style of Death Metal that still has tinged of Industrial sound to it, specifically in the keys. The clean vocals scattered through the album even adds sort of an AVENGED SEVENFOLD style of Metalcore feel to them. The track "Colossus" is probably the best example of FEAR OF DOMINATIONS instrumentals. The song kicks off with a mid-tempo Melodic Death style of riff that's perfectly fit for banging your head to and maintains this sound just long enough to keep you glued without getting bored. About halfway through the song there's a bridge section that is both fascinating and awesome, the bridge takes full advantage of operatic chanting and the keys to make something that would generally sound overdone, sound new and fresh instead.

Outside of one final mention for "El Toro" which is the only song of the album to really feature a guitar solo and it's an awesome solo, those are the stand out tracks on "Atlas". This album has a lot of different sounds and influence on it and it doesn't come off as a mash up of sound, instead the sounds mix together properly and create something sonically that most bands of the same style want to pull off, but instead fall short of and create a wall of sound instead. While Industrial has never been MY thing, this is one album I'll keep around and will come back to at some point, well done FEAR OF DOMINATION.
