Evil Scarecrow - Galactic Hunt album cover

I became a convert to Nottingham based Parody Black Metal quintet EVIL SCARECROW after watching their magnificent set at Bloodstock 2014; they practically had Bloodstock eating out of the palms of their hands with their crab scuttling and robot moves considering it was eleven o' clock in the morning. So I was only more than happy to review their latest release "Galactic Hunt".

EVIL SCARECROW entered the Metal scene in the year 2004 with their debut album "Crowfiction", from that point on they have gone on to delight the Metal Community with their songs and albums about the weird and wonderful; including the anthemic "Robototron" complete with robot moves.

Now onto the Sci Fi adventure known as "Galactic Hunt"; to say it opens grandly would be an understatement. Introductory tracks "Excelsior Mali Formidi" and "Rise" give the album that ideal start that draws the listener in from the word go. I am heavily reminded of a feature film as these tracks flow nicely together. As the album progresses we are treated to a lot more of these songs that would sit nicely in a feature film or a popular video game including "Book Of Doom", "Flight Of The Dragons" and "End Level Boss".

The tracks that stand out on the album for me are "Flight Of The Dragons", "Dance Of The Cyclops" and the almighty single "Crabulon". I find myself in nostalgic mode when I hear "Dance Of The Cyclops" and "Crabulon" as it takes me back to Bloodstock 2014; especially when after their set "Crabulon" was dancing around in head for days after the festival. I even find myself making pincer movements with my hands every time the song plays. Dancing with my friend to "Dance Of The Cyclops" live is also a cheerful memory I won't be forgetting any time soon.

"Enter The Knightmare" allows the listener one last chance to experience the wrath of EVIL SCARECROW before concluding this Sci Fi adventure.

I understand that this album was all funded by a Kickstarter type campaign where the fans donate some of their cash to help their heroes create a new album and the fans get something in return depending on how much is donated. Well from listening to this album back to front for the past few days I can wholeheartedly confirm they will be getting more than their money's worth.
