EDGE OF BLAME are a Hard Rock band from Germany. They came together in 2012 under the mutual goal of creating a "live rock'n'roll". They released their debut record, "Predicted Of My Soul", independently - and from first impression, the listeners are indeed set to experience a "live rock'n'roll" session. There is quite a lot to be said about this album, so let's begin, shall we?

As I mentioned earlier, the sound on "Predicted Of My Soul" is very raw and uncut, as can be assumed from a band aiming towards a more lively sound. There is quite an inexplainable oddity when listening to an album like this, especially for a listener who is used to a much larger production effort. Nonetheless, the sound given on this album is very approachable, and doesn't require much strain from the listener's ears, and is quite pleasing.

The tracks outputted are passably enjoyable, with a relatively similar song structure shared among the tracks throughout the album. At times, it sounds as if the band drifted into heavier territories, than their own - not before hastily returning to the mellower sound. At times, it's as if the listener received a snippet from a previously unreleased track by IRON MAIDEN, VANDEN PLAS and others. That can be heard sparsely throughout the album. If I had to put my finger on it, "Reach For The Sun" would be my favorite track on "Predicted Of My Soul".

Instrumentally wise, "Predicted Of My Soul" showcases some enjoyable, yet predictable, chord progressions and arrangements. Mohr's vocal lines are done well, although they can get awkward at certain moments - attributing to the whole "live" thing the band were striving towards. Bredlow clearly is a talented guitarist - and his playing style is very satisfying. The bass and drum, contributed by Ernst and Prinz, respectively, are as groovy as Hard Rock can be.

Ultimately, the listener is expected to be pleased with what EDGE OF BLAME, a relatively unknown band from a small town in Eastern Germany, pulled off in "Predicted Of My Soul". It is a relaxed Hard Rock record that was aimed towards, and should be, played live - but is also a theuropical record that can be used to ease yourself after a long and tiring day. So, if that's the case - sit down, put the album on your speakers - and enjoy the show.
