Latter Days
Drown Incus

Hailing from Lucerne, Switzerland, the band was founded back in 2006, they released a single in 2013 and here they are with a debut full length.
After reading the band's bio on the Facebook page, a great possible chance that the band itself wrote it, I was a little bit scared. Why scared? I will explain. Every time I see the phrasing / labeling Alternative Metal or Alternative Rock I usually go into a spasm. Generally I have been deeming it as a bug within Metal or Rock music. Nonetheless, nowadays it is all a part of the mystery as this kind of approach went through a few stages of development. Thus my concern diminished right in the moment I started to listen to the album "Latter Days".
Tossing aside the opening fragment, meaning "Intro", I headed directly to the second track "Narrow Path", previously released as a single. While tuning I noticed how DROWN INCUS have been creating a fusion within Metal, less in the traditional Alternative sprites of the 90's. Furthermore, this song has quite a catchy guitar riffing and Marino on vocals was superbly mixed in the music, displaying the groundwork of classic Grunge with frequent aggressive manners. I feel that this type of blending is phenomenal. "Pawns" had me transfigured at first with a few Country / Western music that shared a few elements with ALICE IN CHAINS.
To my surprise, "Latter Days" opened my mind to a new experience, impressively mixing gradients of Metal to preserve a certain assortment. Thus with great pride I proclaim that this album is one of the greatest albums that I have heard in a while. Care not to miss this one.
