Dreamaker - Enclosed album cover

Dreamaker is a rather fine name for a band. I wonder how come no band ever picked that name before (as far as I'm concerned, at least). This name can guide my mind to e.g. bands like Crimson Glory or musical styles like the 90's Wave of Italian Metal or even to some Euro Power acts or (even) to an obscure mid-80s U.S. Epic Metal quartet. Hmmm... no data yet. The cover artwork is also so neutral; you can't make anything out of it. As for the album's title? Enclosed speaks clearly! Check the inside please... I like that!
Spain's Dreamaker was born from the mutiny at the Dark Moor camp in 2002. Elisa C. Martin (vocals) Albert Maroto (guitar) and Jorge Saez (drums) decide to create Dreamaker to spread their own ideas. Signing with Arise Records (a soon-to-be premier Metal label, in my opinion), their first album Human Device will be recorded at Sonic Pump Studios (Finland) in September 2004. Participating in various festivals like the Vina Rock Fest, two shows as the support act for Labyrinth in Japan (Tokyo & Osaka) and two shows with the Scorpions (Barcelona & San Sebastian), the band then entered again the studio for the recording of the Enclosed album, this time at M20 Studios in Madrid.
Dreamaker - yes, it's a fair guess - have many things in common with Dark Moor. But not that many, because: 1) Dark Moor have released some remarkable albums, in no way to be judged as boring or average, with more traditional South European 90s Metal whereas Dreamaker tend to develop many modern ideas, 2) Dreamaker feature female vocals, thus differences in the final sound certainly occur. Elisa's voice could easily be described as ethereal, but there's more: I can discern a latent power - strength in this woman's vocal harmonies, an ability to guide the basic melody of the song to the desired sub-style. Of course, similarities to Evanescence (mainly) or Nightwish (partially) may come to mind but in no way can I state that there's a copy - paste situation. In addition, all compositions mark a Mediterranean aura, enough to place the band to the standards delivered by such bands. Innovative ideas, concerning the lead guitar parts or the rhythm section backup, create an interesting amalgam of modern Metal and traditional Euro Power Metal. I have to confess, though, that Elisa's voice sounds better in the more straightforward rough tunes.
Eventually, enclosed in this CD is a set of notable Melodic Power Metal tunes, that will not disappoint the supporters of this specific music style. Yet, fans of similar areas like e.g. Sinergy, Edenbridge, Kamelot or Concerto Moon may find some teasing parts to enjoy.
