Doomfoxx - Doomfoxx album cover

Whenever we get the chance to talk about Rock 'n' Roll elements, the purity and straightforwardness of this sinful genre, it all ends up about the fuckin' same ol' few-chord mid-tempo 'raw' tracks and onstage endless adrenaline and sweat. You can search in the very depths of your favorite Rock/Metal subgenre but when it comes to e.g. AC/DC, Motorhead and The Ramones there so little stuff to chat on. It's only the beer talkin' in these situations.
Even if this quintet originates from Australia, it seems that the Germans and mid Europe - at first - have accepted them with more than a welcome. A two month tour in summer 2005 throughout Germany, France, Austria and France (plus supported Rose Tattoo on the European Aussie Invasion tour) and a participation in this year's installment of Wacken Open Air festival is not to be taken less than seriously. Then, it's Armageddon Music that pulls the strings of promotion for the band so a first deal of recognition in the aforementioned region(s) is obvious. And all this after only two CD singles - prior to the release featured here - named Piece Of Me (2005) and My Beautiful Friends (2005). Both cuts are included in this effort so you don't have to miss anything.
Music-related: Mick Cocks (ex-Rose Tattoo, ex-Heaven) marks the first key in this chain. Fuzzy, dirty, mean and a rebel. Dave Thomas is in the same vein, but it's always the experience that comes first, huh? A frenzied booze-full duet, capable of setting the neighborhood on fire on a silent summer night. Tons of slide solos, wah wahs and riffing, the 'ghosts' of The Rolling Stones, Guns 'n' Roses (or even Velvet Revolver?) and (of course) 'dirty' AC/DC spread all over and the whisky pours in. The McKie/Archie rhythm section features simplicity as their lethal weapon (always play the least you can afford, so as to handle being drunk on stage a wise old friend of mine once said) while Stuart McKie endorses the album with his filthy, intoxicated throat to the likes of Michael Monroe, Billy Idol or Glenn Danzig (??).
The cuts themselves are not anything more or less of what someone would expect from this kind of style. Played 1,000,000 times before, the same good ol' shit, a 'must' for any Rock party but not THAT 'have to' for purchasing, unless the meaning of life for you deals with the word 'simple'.
