Emperor of The Black Runes

I doubt Domine really needs any introduction. The epic power metallers are back with their brand new release Emperor Of The Black Runes.
Those guys blend fast, intricate, and symphonic sounds into their metal repertoire while the music may be a bit too bombastic and speed-driven for the average metal fan.
There is no denying their powerful riffs, soaring vocals and galloping rhythms have earned them a place among the European epic/power Metal elite. The opener Overture Mortale is a majestic aria arrangement from Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart and have to say its the best intro for the flyer coming of Battle Gods with it fast tones, a mid tempo vocal melody and hellish guitar riffs. Once again Morby's voice steals the show with his plenary volitions.
Next to come is the highlight of the album, the glorious Arioch, The Chaos Star. Inspired by the work of Michael Moorcock, writer of the Elric Of Melnibone and Corumbooks. Again fast, heavy, strong guitar riffs, a well-tight rhythm section and Morby at his best. Follower The Aquilonia Suite contains except from the amazing Conan, The Barbarian soundtrack by Basil Poledouris, one of the most epic composition ever recorded.
The mid tempo The Prince In the Scarlet Robe follows next. A wonderful pseudo ballad with a powerful drum section, that fits perfectly with the sound of Icarus Ascending. Domine digs deep into lost pages of lore, gracing its songs with such themes as kings and queens, knights and maidens, dragons and fire. The next four tracks follow the same formula with music runs throughout the entire spectrum of Domine's songs, rising and falling in speed and heaviness.
Overall, Emperor Of The Black Runes will please the Domine fans cause the improved talent of the band is clearly evident. And who can forget Morby's unique voice? His somewhat nasal tone (cause of his origin) manages to belt out some powerful, clean tones that just scream EPIC! A must have album for all the true epic power metallers.
