When we speak about live albums, the best ones are from those bands that you know that evades high-tech support, those who plays in the most simple and organic form, trusting only on musical instruments and amps. No, I'm not telling that all bands from modern Metal genres that uses technological devices to improve their musical work, but they need a better technical support and structure to be in the way they must. There are albums that time made of them a good reference, and maybe "Evil Live", the live album released by DIAMOND HEAD back on 1994 (and that is being re-released now), can be a good example.

Here, we have on this package the first CD is a live album, being recorded at National Bowl, Milton Keynes, 5^th June 1993. It's a show from promotional tour of "Death and Progress", and the second CD is some covers and unreleased tracks. On the live album, let's be honest and see the whole thing on two aspects: the excursion promoting "Death and Progress", what means that they had to play many songs of this album. There are three, "Truckin", "Dust" and "Run", and they are in good shape in their live versions. As well, some classics are played, as their most known song, the phenomenal song "Am I Evil?", the great "Sucking My Love", and the amazing and lovely "Helpless". But about the classic songs, let me say a thing: maybe songs as "The Prince", "Call Me" and "It's Electric" had a space on the album, because they are excellent as well.

On the second CD, we have four covers: "Good Lovin' Gone Bad" (of BAD COMPANY, maybe an early influence on their musical style), "This Flight Tonight" (an old and good NAZARETH song, another good influence on their musical work), and "Good Rockin' Tonight" (A MONTROSE song). And the other four are unreleased songs, all of them very good and with DIAMOND HEAD's DNA, and they are "Sweet Silence", "Feels Good", "Kiss of Fire", and "Let Me Down Easy", all of them with that good melodies that are easily understood. But my only complaint: this album deserved to be a double live one, because the band had material enough for that, so the songs I told would enter the album.

It's a good release indeed, but again, where's the new issue for "Lighting to the Nations"?
