Delayed Departure - Consequences album cover

Hey there Metal-Temple. Today I'm reviewing a brand new band from the UK called DELAYED DEPARTURE. They are offering us a solid first glimpse of their talent in "Consequences". This Hard-Rock album drifts really close to Metal on a lot of occasions, the riffs remind me a lot of BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE. Another comparison that comes to mind would be STONE SOUR.

I was taken away by the quality of this album, the band is offering us such a beautiful sound while being independent. The voice is crystal clear and the guitar sound is sharp, really beautiful work all around for this EP.

The initial track "Opus" really shows us right away what we are in for, a hard, melodic and full sound from this British rock band. The bass really helps a lot from the start, it is no wonder they battled hard to get Ollie Drapper on board with them really quick; it brings this background to the sound that really fills it with life. This is followed by "Ocean", I love thematic songs like this. It really feels like the beat is coming in waves to crash down on you. The vocal prowess of Mike is demonstrated in full in this song, and mixed with the beautiful riffs from Charlie and Jamie, it gives us a living and breathing song that will stick in your head for a while.

Really the whole album has a life of his own, "Let's Catch Fire" is an upbeat and melodic song that had me stomp my feet on the ground for the 3 minutes it lasted. Which is the total opposite of the next song "Captive", this is a really beautiful and quiet ballad. The voice of Mike in this reminds me a lot of John Bon Jovi actually. It is very clear, with a Rock roll in the back of the throat. "Synopsis" left a lot of space for the guitarists to express themselves. The song is filled with solos and riffs; it makes you want to hear more for sure. "Choices" is really similar and ends on a high note this amazing EP by DELAYED DEPARTURE.

Clearly, these guys decided to hit the market with a bang; this EP "Consequences" has the mark of a great upcoming band. You should definitely keep an eye out for DELAYED DEPARTURE. Hopefully their next album will be full-length, I want to hear a lot more of this band.
