Decapitated

I was looking forward to this release because Decapitated is a band that will make you love its music if you are a Death Metal fanatic. I remember when I first listened to their music. Total disaster! When I got the CD in my hands, I was impatient to place it where it belongs, inside my CD player. What I came across is mentioned below...
Decapitated is a Polish band that when it was first formed, the age of its members varied from 12 to about 17 years old! Pretty young age for a Death Metal band, huh? So, they were formed in 1996 and debuted with two great Demos, Cemeteral Gardens(1997) and The Eye Of Horus(1998). The recordings were done as a trio as Decapitated added the 13 year old Martin on bass guitar. Their success was instant and they managed to sign a contract with Earache Records. They also seem to have an addiction to covers as they have covered Slayer's Mandatory Suicide, Deicide's Lunatic Of God's Creation and Napalm Death's Suffer The Children.
I can start by saying that I got a bit disappointed with the cover. It is not a classic Decapitated cover. Basically, it is NOT a Death Metal cover! Anyway, the music is what counts most and this is the most difficult part. All of you that know these deathsters, watch out! You will not find the usual devastation that every single release from Decapitated contains. It seems that this progress trend has got into their heads too. It's not pure Death Metal. Organic Hallucinosis is an album with a few new elements. Catchy riffs, less brutal vocals (don't be afraid, they're still brutal) and some more influences. There are times you think Machine Head have found their way to your CD player. Still fast, still brutal, but not the same. I want to avoid being misunderstood. It's not that Decapitated have turned out to be total crap, but their music has naturally progressed to another level. Don't tell me that this is a bad thing to do. We're in 2006!
Organic Hallucinosis is a record that I enjoyed much! I listened to it many times at home and it is also stuck inside my personal CD player. The production is really great and this helps them a lot. Strong and solid. This release can be described as modern Death Metal. I think this is the best classification it can be given. Imagine Meshuggah in a more Death Metal form.
If you are a traditional Death Metal fan, I wouldn't recommend it to you, but if you want something fresh and new, go get it! It is not the album that will be written in history, but it will surely be a good friend for you. I don't think you'll regret buying this album.
The limited edition is on Dual Disc featuring the album plus a November 2005 live show on DVD.
