Revolution Rising
Civilization One

Revolution is calling on you. Will you hear the call? Do you want to hear the call? The revolutionaries may be familiar to you; their - so far - deeds may have approached your likes in terms of musical mutiny, thus you should not stand out of the march for revolt at first sight. So, take a deep breath, proceed to the CIVILIZATION ONE manifest and choose your destiny.
Five players, four countries. In detail: the exotic temptation of Sri Lanka offers the credibility of Chitral Chity Somapala, a singer already known to many for his works with bands like FIREWIND (mainly), AVALON, FARO and RED CIRCUIT. The Mediterranean land of Italy donates the employment of Aldo Lanobile and Luca Cartasegna (SECRET SPHERE), while French stylistic grounds contribute aid due to the personality of Pierre-Emmanuel Pelisson (ex-HEAVENLY). Last but non least, Brazil's undoubted splendour is pictured in the sounds of Jesper Stotz (an old companion of Chitral Somapala). Therefore, the band name's origin can now become quite observable in your mind. Three continents in the services of the (in general) 'metallic' ideals, be it. Sounds innovative enough to me...But what about the music itself?
CIVILIZATION ONE...Timeless Heavy Metal with Neoclassical, Symphonic Aggression!!!!, reads a posting at the band's official site. This can as well be the whole story for this album, to tell you the truth. Producer Markus Teske (VANDEN PLAS/DOMINCI/SYMPHONY X) has done a wonderful job, providing the tracklist with the appropriate audio 'back up'. The guitars are sharp enough, the rhythm section is kinda 'maniac' - some exaggerating double-bass drumming, again - while the keys refer to the 'symphonic' side of the band (enough of soloing, too). Somapala's voice - for those not familiar with hid past discography - bears a mix of Michael Bormann and Tony Martin. Consequently, melodies are exchanged with dynamic vocals while choir backing singing provides more volume to the - anyway - 'stout' music.
For those wondering what FIREWIND elements may be lurking in here, let's say - summarizing for the whole album - Revolution Calling is an atmospheric Euro Metal album with (at times) some of the current ROYAL HUNT songwriting approach and (at other times) enough of the post-80s ANGELDUST 'deeds', while few space is left for straightforward Metal headbanging tunes. Ah, do not worry - too - listening to the howls in songs like 16 or Welocme To Paradise; they do fit really well plus we all need some evil spirit in Metal music. Let aside the fact that songs like Wishing Well offer much of Central Europe/Scandinavian hardrockin' smells.
CIVILIZATION ONE have created an interesting all-around-Euro-Metal album, and your attention is needed in particular, if you are tied with the Metal Heaven catalogue in general. Many bands of the label's roster do 'exist' in CIVILIZATION ONE. One music, one world...
