What kind of passion guides Extreme Metal fans sometimes? This question arises from a deeper sense that extreme Metal is difficult to swallow, due it thunderous aggressiveness, guttural or shrieked vocals, and low tunes on guitars and bass guitar. But even with all against, more and more bands arises from the depths of underground worldwide. And in the case of Death Metal, it becomes even more non commercial than other Extreme Metal styles.

And a great dichotomy exists on Death Metal by now: the modern style and the old fashioned one, and in this last case, we find bands with influences and music rooted deep within the 90s. And this is what we can feel and hear on North American BLOODSTRIKE's first album, "In Death We Rot".

Yes, their music reminds a lot the forefathers of the second coming of Death Metal, especially those from Swedish school as ENTOMBED and GRAVE, with not so fast tempos, but with a good level of personality. Yes, their music is extremely raw (but I think it's their own choice), and still cares of something of their own on their musical work. As I told, they have a good level of personality, but needs to put it outside of their hearts.

The sound quality is extremely harsh. But I believe that Jeff (the band's guitarist and producer of the album), Patrick Bruss (who Mixed and made part of the Mastering) and Ken Sorceron (Mastering) tried their best to create a quality that fits in what the band wanted for the album. It's raw as the first albums from Death Metal from the 90s, and this give their music some moldy sound that does not fit on our times. There's another ways to do so, then I hope they can get a better sound quality next time. Besides that, we can feel a band with a lot of qualities and that can become better soon.

Songs as the thunderous "Abomination", the nightmare "In Death We Rot" (fine vocals and guitar riffs, along with good tempo changes), the bitter "Bells of Death", and their own version for GRAVE's "Soulless" shows that they have a great potential. Maybe a better production can do something to make their good work becomes better in a near future.
