Well, the best experience to know and understand every Metal/Rock genre is to hear the most different musical works you can, and it's not an easy thing to be done, because even after years you can hear something that can make you become confused. The work of the Italian trio BE THE WOLF is the kind of work that can do it. Hear "Empress" and take your own conclusions. It's a kind of work that is based on Rock 'n' Roll, with charming melodies and created with simple instrumental technique. But even in this way, they can sound like a Glam Metal band sometimes, on others with a more Pop Rock orientation, on others experimental, and so on. We can say that this diversification gives their work personality, without being dispersive (that kind of band that shot in all directions and that lacks of a concise personality). Their work is truly very good.

To such kind of music, there's no need of a super production, but it demands to be done with a careful insight to give the musical instruments the right tunes. It's because it can't be heavy and aggressive (for it would destroy the accessibility), but can't be excessively clean (that would transform a Rock album in a Pop one). And it's fine in the way it is.

Musically, you'll really appreciate the album at its full if you're not that kind of fan that thinks that only a musical genre is good. "Empress" was created to be accessible and melodic in a way that can remind you of FOO FIGHTERS in some moments, and the sharp melodies of "Burn Me Out" (it can sounds like an accessible MOTORHEAD sometimes, with very good vocals), "Action" with its Disco/Pop elements, "Stallone" (a charming mix of Rock melodies with musical accessibility, with good guitars), "You're My Demon Tonight" (a bit more heavy, and it's another great work from the vocals, especially on the chorus), the Hard Rock way of "Move It", and the 70's Rock insight of "Trigger Discipline" can be said as the finest moments of the album.
