Aussichtslos - Einsicht album cover

Austria seems to be a hard country for Metal, because just a few names came out of its borders. And in Black Metal, the country gave birth to one of the most famous names, ABIGOR. During the early days of the rise of the Second Wave of Black Metal, the trio's name was praised in many places, and "Verwüstung / Invoke the Dark Age", "Orkblut - The Retaliation" and "Nachthymnen (From the Twilight Kingdom)" earned a lot of respect. But now, another excellent name on the genre comes to ravage Austrian lands with Black Metal flames: AUSSICHTSLOS, as can be heard on their second album, "Einsicht".

They mix the old ways of the past, playing a raw and simple form of traditional Black Metal, but using excellent ambiences based on the guitars' works. Yes, they really play in a very good and morbid way that invokes the past, but never giving up of the modern days, when the Black Metal contesting voice must be heard, as conservative Christians try to drown the world into the darkness of ignorance. And the trio has a strong and musical work that can be faced as a call to arms. The production was conceived to be in the classic model: nasty and crude, using simple instrumental tunes to create a moldy and organic feeling that chills the spine of the listeners (what means that it's a Black Metal band playing). Of course that all can be understood without problems for those used to the genre (but will cause puking for those that aren't introduced to it properly).

On 8 very good songs, the trio shows very good ideas that can be expanded in the future. But for now, hearing to "Flächenbrand" (that old and good morbid Black Metal feeling of the past fills the song, with very good shrieks), "Sklaven" and "Ertränken" (very good darkened melodies are flowing from the guitars' arrangements on both songs), "Ertränken" (very good playing of bass guitar and drums can be heard on this classical Black Metal song), and "Maske" (another catchy set of funereal melodies are heard here) is a very good experience for those that miss old days of Black Metal.

Of course, AUSSICHTSLOS still has a way to go, but "Einsicht" is really a good album that points to a promising future.
