Ampütator - Deathcult Barbaric Hell (Reissue) album cover

When we deal with North American Black Metal, we must have in mind that the style evolved there under foundations made of 80s Death Metal and Thrash Metal elements. Many legendary names came from the country to oppress the ears of the fans. Unlike their compatriots, the duet AMPÜTATOR unleashes a violent and brutal fury on their releases. Now, we have in hands a reissue for their first album, "Deathcult Barbaric Hell".

Be prepared, because their musical work is nasty and brutal, fast and furious, but extremely charming. They seem to gather some influences from HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST, along with something from GORGOROTH and 1349, and if you know the project WAR (a Swedish extreme Metal act that had It, Bone, Peter Tagtgren, Lars Szoke and Mikael Hedlund), they are in the same vein. Brutal and explosive, aggressive in a way that can make your ears bleed, and their musical work is really excellent.

The sound quality of "Deathcult Barbaric Hell" is raw and nasty, maybe to be as shocking as their music is. This rawness and filth makes their musical work gain a strange and aggressive life, and if you think of it in a cleaner way, you have to agree with me: it wouldn't be as good as with all this filthy. No, they aren't in an Old School fashion, because their music can tear every moldy band apart as it was a furious jigsaw cutting raw flesh. Their best mass murders are the brutal and fast ones "Rape Kill Annihilate" (what simple and great guitar riffs) and "Gutterslut", the merciless onslaught of bass guitar and drums that gives support to the oppressive "Sarin Death Vengeance", the slower and bitter "Obliteration" (where we can hear clearly the influence of HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST on their music), their excellent version for REPULSION's old song "Slaughter of the Innocent", the bombing massacre imposed on "Extinction Deathmarch", The mix between Metal and Hardcore influences shown on "Complete Butchery" with its very good guitars, and the fast massacre of "Feasting on Vermin" and "Creed of Persecution" (both showing a very good work on vocals).

It's a sound slaughter of the ears, the murdering of the brain. What are you waiting for? Hear it at any cost!
