I had a chance to talk with Roger Miret of AGNOSTIC FRONT not too long ago about the band and their newest album, "The American Dream Died". It was a great interview and Miret is a wonderful guy and has no intentions of stopping he and his bands' passion for creating the classic sound they are famous for. "The American Dream Died" is one sick album and it only proves that AF will not run out of steam anytime soon. Many bands I listen to, owe their style and sound to AGNOSTIC FRONT, but I have never really been a die-hard fan of AGNOSTIC FRONT or other hardcore acts. I could never relate to the "tough guy" mentality that NY hardcore bands are famous for. I grew up in mostly rural communities for most of my life, so I don't know much about the street-kid lifestyle that inspired much of AGNOSTIC FRONT'S music, but that doesn't mean it is alienating, in fact, the current album is very relatable. Regardless of your familiarity of hardcore punk, this album is great and addresses many current issues facing America: Police brutality, racism, and government corruption. "The American Dream Died" still has the 'classic hardcore' messages of unity, friendship and family, but the primary focus of the album is rooted in American social-politics. "The American Dream Died" in no way deviates from AGNOSTIC FRONT'S classic sound, it's still the heavy, fast and angry, classic American hardcore that AF has been delivering for over 30 years. There are no real surprises in the album if you are familiar with AGNOSTIC FRONT'S work or early New York hardcore in general. "The American Dream Died" stands its ground beside other great AF albums like "My Life My Way" and "Liberty and Justice For...". AGNOSTIC FRONT has a European tour planned this summer, so take a look and see if they are coming near your town and support classic, no holds barred, New York hardcore!<
