Visions Of Burning Aeons
Aeon Aphelion
When I deal with Greek Metal scene, I remember at first Black Metal bands like ROTTING CHRIST, THOU ART LORD and NECROMANTIA, some Thrash Metal bands as SUICIDAL ANGELS and CHRONOSPHERE, and even bands of Death Metal like NIGHTFALL, but AEON APHELION, with their first full length, "Visions Of Burning Aeons", really is astonishing, for they are far from them.
It's Stoner Metal with some touches of Doom Metal, in the vein of C.O.C., but with great arrangements in guitars. Melodic vocals, great guitar works (that sometimes reminds us GRAND MAGUS' works in terms of melodic solos), bass and drums forming a rhythmic basis heavy and with good groovy moments. It's nothing original or new at all, but it's very, very good, indeed.
Alex Koutsis (band's guitarist and vocalist) and Nick Dimitrakakos did a good work in the production, for it is clean and heavy in both ways, but without that dirty necessary for the style, and some "oiled" feeling coming from the guitar riffs.
Their music has some great and catching moments (as the heavy and charming "Oracles" and "Shrine of Despair" show), but the greater part of time, their music is done with slower tempos and great doses of melody (as the excellent "Ophitic Doctrine" shows, with great guitar), so the whole album shows a good band, that in the future will surprise many fans.
And believe, they will catch us all!
