Aborted - Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture album cover

Ahhh, the smell of rotten corpses flows all around me every time I listen to this band. Their murderous instincts are more than well known to deathsters. They are here once again to prove that brutality is nothing you can pretend or fake. Either you have it in your blood or not. Two years of absence seem to have made the beast hungry and now it is back for a total carnage! Run away if you can or prepare to face your worst nightmare...
The Belgian butchers started their mutilation mission back in 1995 and debuted with their 1999 demo The Necrotorous Chronicles. They started out as a Grindcore band with a great full-length debut in 1999, The Purity Of Perversion, and then moved on to an effort to keep the balance between extreme and brutal Death Metal and melodic Death Metal. Everyone who knows the band can judge if they have achieved it. This is their fifth full-length album and if I am not mistaken, their first through Century Media.
I want to start by saying that the album features some great guest appearances from people that have proven their quality as musicians many times. Those guest musicians are Jeff Walker (ex-CARCASS), Jacob Bredahl and Henrik Jacobsen (HATESPHERE). No need to comment on these three guys! So, let's get on with this album. The production is great for one more time, something which is a must for the 21st century's Death Metal bands. I understand the underground philosophy, I can also understand the cult thing regarding the shitty productions, but isn't it time to move on a bit? Thank god, the production is accompanied with really nice songs! This time ABORTED seem really mature and keep a great balance between brutality and melody (do NOT get confused with really melodic stuff, we are talking about ABORTED here)! The drumming is tearing everything apart for one more time and the rhythm section in general kicks major ass! The guitars are heavier than ever and Sven is the classic beast behind the microphone! Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture seems to be a really nice sample of what good European Death Metal is all about.
Whoever thinks that The Archaic Abattoir (2005) wasn't enough to feed his appetite for extreme Grind/Death Metal should definitely check this out! Brutality and sickness served by the masters. Sit tight and enjoy...
