UNSANE And SHRINEBUILDER Align With Coextinction Recordings

November 10, 2010
Dave Curran and Chris Spencer of UNSANE fame have teamed up with producer Andrew Schneider and James Paradise to launch a new label project dubbed Coextinction Recordings. The label will not be focused on signing artists or releasing albums however. Instead the digital-centric undertaking will strive to release one-time only creative sessions which are tracked at their Brooklyn, NY studio home base, Translator Audio.
Utilizing a self-described "fast and dirty" approach, participating artists will have their songs made available for download shortly after tracking via the labels community oriented website, www.coextinction.com.
Schneider commented on the labels plan with the following: "By removing the pressures of making a full record or the perfect single, the plan instead is to provide a chance for the artist to take a moment in the studio to experiment and explore new ideas. The engineering will follow the same ethos; set up is fast, sounds are often not pretty and the main focus is on keeping the session moving. The time limitations will force quick decisions, unplanned techniques and often very cool surprises."
Releases from the label will start appearing online on November 15th with a collection of three new UNSANE songs ("Pigeon", "Grind" and "No Dice") set to serve as the initial offering. Other bands participating include GOES CUBE, SHRINEBUILDER, Julie Christmas and more. Here's how the labels current release schedule looks:
November 15th, 2010 ' UNSANE
December 15th, 2010 ' GOES CUBE
January 15th, 2011 ' SHRINEBUILDER
February 15th, 2011 ' PIGS
March 15th, 2011 ' Julie Christmas
April 15th, 2011 ' FRESH KILLS
