Founded in 2011, The O'Reillys and the Paddyhats are a unique formation that finally gives the Irish Folk Punk scene something new and refreshing to talk about. Hailing from Gevelsberg, Germany (Little Dublin), the seven multi-instrumentalists don't care whether they play their shows at a big venue in the heart of Moscow, a small underground establishment in Madrid or in a German village. Once they set foot on stage the atmosphere immediately bursts with energy and that feeling you get when you're partying with all your friends rushes through your body.

A solid backline, driving folk and a shared passion for Irish music are the ingredients that have led to multiple sore throats, roaring parties and screams for an encore!

The Paddyhats are well known in the European Folk/Punk scene and are anxious to break new ground in the US. Recorded at the famous German Principal Studios, the band does the next big step forward on, Sign of the Fighter, an enthusiastic mix of traditional Celtic folk with rock and punk.

Says vocalist Sean O'Reilly, "You could say Sign of the Fighter is "THE ALBUM" because we found ourselves. We found the sound, the attitude, and feeling we want to transport. We wrote the songs as we always write. There's a good lyric written by Dwight O'Reilly our banjo, mandolin and accordeon man and then I (Sean) try to get an idea what it could sound like. Sometimes Dwight an I sit together an just jam and often something develops from it. Most of the time it's fun and your head is full of ideas. Sometimes you're being stuck in the middle of a bridge an it haunts you for weeks. However we always get it done in the end. We love strong singable chorusses and don't like restrictions. Everything's possible. "Mix it with rockabilly". Alright. Let's do that. "That song feels like Pop Folk". Okay, if it sounds great. Why not? We produce in a big studio build in a huge farmhouse in Germany. Big German bands like Die Toten Hosen & Gravedigger produced there. It feels like a professional but relaxed environment which really helps focussing. This year is amazing. Releasing Sign of the Fighter brought us just on step further to the way we want to live. Playing lots of festivals, touring with bigger bands, and getting an idea of what there is to come because people start following us all over the world, and everything with our own songs. With songs about fighting, drinking, loving, hating, searching. You could say about life. Often wrapped up in a setting of old and celtic times. 1860 in an Irish Pub. 1600 on a ship but aswell today for example in L.A. where we followed a psychopath murder. It's not always easy in this band but I would never trade it for something else."
