As summer hits Europe, the festival season has entered into full swing, with a slew of upcoming festivals to look forward to, including Germany's second largest Metal festival, the notorious Summer Breeze Festival! Back with its 18th instalment this year, this festival will play host to an absolutely phenomenal lineup that has something for everyone, and is marked by numerous highlights, guaranteeing a delectable and debaucherous party for all. Last year festival can't be described as anything other than a resounding and memorable success, and this year is certain to be just as fantastic! Set in picturesque countryside, this festival is one of my all-time favourites. Due to this, getting to the festival by train is a bit tricky, but Summer Breeze do offer free shuttle services to and from the centre of Dinkelsbühl, the nearest town with a train station. These shuttles work out perfectly not only for getting to and from the festival, but also as a way of getting to all the amenities available in the town of Dinkelsbühl. And as if that weren't enough, the festival organisers are going out of their way to make the festival as enjoyable as possible for everyone, offering awesome gimmicks like renting coolerboxes and the ability to preorder crates of beer that will be kept chilled for you on the festival campgrounds (check out their home page for details!). There will of course also be the onsite supermarkets and breakfast tents, catering to your every camping need. And as for the music, where to even begin? With a whopping 120 bands taking part in the festival, this is one of the must-see events of the year for all metalheads. With two massive open-air stages, the Main Stage and the Pain Stage, there's also a smaller outdoor stage, as well as the tented T stage. And of course there are the usual food and merch stands that sell pretty much everything a metalhead's heart could desire! There's even the usual branding stall, where you can get the blacksmith to brand all your stuff with the Summer Breeze logo. Also, don't forget that most of the bands playing at Summer Breeze will have signing sessions at either the Metal.de or Metal Hammer signing stands, so be sure to bring all things you want signed! Due to the high demand for early access to the campsite, the organisers of Summer Breeze are this year opening gates as early as Tuesday at 10am, although this does come at a 10€ mark-up. However, this is still a perfect excuse to get the party started early! Kicking off the festivities is the Warm-up Day on Wednesday 12th June, featuring a hoard of amazing bands such as DEATH ANGEL, NERVOSA, and BATTLE BEAST. This will surely be a tasty morsel that will have mouths watering for the remainder of the festival, which runs from Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th August, and will see the likes of mammoth bands such as AMORPHIS, NIGHTWISH, VENOM, CRADLE OF FILTH, and TRIVIUM. And the cherry on top? Germany's Teutonic 4 will all be playing at the same festival! So here's your chance to catch KREATOR, SODOM, TANKARD, and DESTRUCTION in one single festival! In short, what better way to spend a nice long weekend than at Summer Breeze Festival?
