Vocalist, Tommy Green has this to say about the meaning behind this initial track...
"This is about the hardcore scene. Just my opinion. But here it is....

There is something really attractive to me about a lot of people liking something at the same time. I find myself caught up in the hype and taken a bit by the feeling of connectivity. I like being a part something. I got involved in the scene because I needed family and community to keep me sober and creative. I also was drawn to violence and hate. I am a relatively happy dude but I was caught up in what felt like being in an instant gang with a built in soundtrack. I'm not making fun at all. I wanted to fight the world and I felt like when I discovered the hardcore scene in Salt Lake City I had found my place. Come death or jail or isolation, I felt like we had a culture that was different. Some of that has faded in the sheer popularity and commercialism of this culture. But it's still there for me in different ways.

That being said, I feel like there are a ton of individuals in the world who have become enamored with the gritty and violent and the vengeance of prison culture. Like the free world wants nothing more than to imitate the toughest of those enslaved. I have a super hard time with the prison system in specific ways, but I think there is a lot about the hardcore scene that is informed by the culture of gangs and imprisonment and there is a power and a strength to the scene because of it. But it can also be bondage for people who aren't aware of the dynamic. You can get caught up and ruin your life because of it. I've seen it. Over and over again. I respect my culture but I am not going to be a slave to it. I want to be free. I don't want to imitate prison culture. I don't want my son to imitate prison culture. I want my family and my friends to be free. I want us to overthrow that culture.

That's what I wrote this song about. Again, there are smarter and more serious dudes out there who may disagree with me and I understand I mean no personal disrespect. But this is my perspective 17 years into this scene and culture. At the end of the day you have to guard your heart, cause it's all you have."
