Melba Culp has announced that interim bassist John Coupe will be made an official member of the band. Coupe is best known for his work with Free Drinks, Tomi Balmy and being a go-to session musician in the Austin area. He has been filling in for the group's live performances and rehearsals since March of 2019 and is a long-time acquaintance of Melba Culp's guitarist and vocalist, Jack McConnell.

Melba Culp recently announced that they have teamed up with Finnish-manager Mika Karhumaa, best known for his work with Finnish metal artists Winterborn and Celesty. Melba Culp will be performing at Kipinä Kokkola in 2020, with the anticipation of more European live performances.

Kipinä Kokkola is a Finnish conference that takes place at the Kokkola Ice Arena. It's history with heavy metal music is strong, having featured guest speaker Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden in 2018, with Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath set to take the stage in 2019. The 2020 conference will be the first to feature live music performances, including Melba Culp.
