We're extremely happy to confirm the first 6 bands for SOS Festival 2014, the 7th such event which takes place this time on 19th-20th July and has a "Summer Horror" theme.

Absolva : with a meteoric start in May 2012, formed from the ashes of Fury UK when Luke Appleton left to join Iced Earth, Absolva played a debut show at SOS in 2012, prior to releasing a widely lauded debut album "Flames Of Justice" later that year. They've toured UK and Europe consistently including Bloodstock, Hammerfest, plus support shows with Iced Earth and Michael Schenker. A live album and DVD is released on 30th September amid a widespread European Tour. By the time they play SOS 2014 a 2nd studio album will have been released. www.absolva.com

Tysondog : released a debut album in 1982 with a fine position in the NWOBHM scene, which many critics expected to project the band into the big league but when lady luck failed to smile, they disbanded in 1987. Unheard for many years they've launched a comeback during the past 5 years which is gathering momentum both at home and abroad, very ably reminding us why they were such hot property in the first place. www.tysondog.co.uk

Monument : Peter Ellis, formerly of White Wizzard and The More I See, formed Monument and has stirred an incredible support and praise as purveyors of true British heavy metal. With dual guitar harmonies and signature falsetto wails, this is a band determined to make a difference on the metal scene. Witnesses to their performance at Hammerfest this year will testify to their quality. They are currently touring as main support to White Wizzard. www.planetmonument.com

Incassum : the first of our heavier bands is a returning band from last years' festival. Those in attendance on day two last year saw a delivery of technical , progressive, multi-textured, melodic death metal. There was also the matter of an inspired acoustic set on day one with the band's songs lovingly re-crafted for unplugged delivery and superbly performed. Fans that witnessed the band at Bloodstock 2013 will also vouch for their quality. www.incassum.com

Wizz Wizzard : regulars at SOS Festival, becoming firm favourites especially in the past couple of years, Wizz Wizzard hail from Belgium and are fronted by the charismatic former pirate DJ Wizz who carries with him more than a hint of Dio and Biff Byford. The band released a debut official album, Tears From The Moon, late in 2012 and whilst developing a growing fanbase in their home-country have also connected extremely well with British classic metal followers. www.wizzard-rock.be

Eternal Breath : another band from Belgium, Eternal Breath have, despite being around in various line-ups for some 15 years, only quite recently come to real attention in the UK. A second more extreme band confirmed for 2014 that has gathered serious momentum in their homeland during the past couple of years and we're delighted to help introduce them further to UK audiences. www.eternalbreath.be

SOS Festival takes place annually in July, at Radcliffe Civic in North Manchester. Previous headliners include GUN, Heaven's Basement, Blaze Bayley, Fury UK, Black Spiders, Tygers of Pan Tang, Babylon Fire. It's a two-day indoor rock and metal event, featuring in excess of 20 bands, with two stages - a main stage and an acoustic stage. In 2013 and now ongoing, the main stage was re-named the Dean Hocking Stage in honour of the bass player of Lincoln-based rock band Nightvision - Dean tragically lost his life in a serious car accident in December 2012.
