ABSOLVA appoint new bassist
September 8, 2014
British classic metallers Absolva are delighted to announce the appointment of new bassist Karl Schramm who will take up his new duties on a permanent basis from 25th October, after the completion of the current European Tour.
Karl has been playing bass for around 10 years and graduated at Bristol Institute of Modern Music in 2013. Since that time he's been playing in an Iron Maiden tribute band whilst seeking out the right opportunity to join an original outfit. The chance to join Absolva is exactly that.
Chris Appleton (lead vocalist / lead guitarist) comments "From the start of Karl's audition he showed he is an outstanding bass player of great technical ability. The very first song we played together was Devil's Mouth and already it felt like a band. This opens up an exciting new chapter for Absolva".
Karl adds "I'm very excited to be joining Absolva and taking my career to the next level with this amazing band. I'm looking forward to this experience and can't wait to get out onstage with Chris and Martin".
Karl's main band influences are Iron Maiden, Dream Theater and Iced Earth which are perfect for this band. His first shows will be several November dates in UK and Europe as Blaze Bayley's backing band, which Absolva fulfils on a regular basis, followed by Absolva headline shows in the UK in December.
Massive thanks go out to Luke Appleton of Iced Earth who is currently filling the bassist position on a temporary basis during the European Tour.
Absolva was formed in May 2012 by Chris Appleton (lead guitar / lead vocals) and Martin McNee (drums), the two having played together in Fury UK (along with now Iced Earth bassist Luke Appleton - brother of Chris). The band has proved to be quite prolific both onstage and in the studio, and has released 2 studio albums - "Flames Of Justice" in 2012 and "Anthems To The Dead" in 2014. In 2013 they also released a live CD and DVD called "Beyond Live". The band has played special guests slots with Iced Earth, Michael Schenker and Queensryche. The current headline European Tour is their most widespread to-date with 28 shows across 8 different countries.
Work towards a 3rd studio album will begin during 2015.
