September 27, 2010
DRAGSTRIP, the Los Angeles-based hard rock band featuring former TANK drummer Gary "Bulldog" Taylor, has released its debut album, "A Heartbeat Away From Disaster", via Riff City Records.
DRAGSTRIP is fronted by U.K. vocalist and showman Kevan Overend, who is described in a press release as "a true rock and roll star (remember those?) in the vein of Freddie Mercury and Marc Bolan." Rounding out the band's current lineup are guitarist/vocalist Tommy Norton (formerly of SPACE AGE PLAYBOYS) and bassist Brian Dobbs.
DRAGSTRIP's influences come from "the great heritage of '70s British hard rock . . . when rock stars had no apologies and were not politically correct. Bands such as THIN LIZZY, UFO, AC/DC and, of course, LED ZEPPELIN."
