Majeste Simphonia - Tragenda Dramatica - DEMO album cover

Majeste Simphonia hails from Larissa (respect - still recall the sandwiches I ate there while I was in the army, haha) and they were kind enough to send me their first promo attempt Tragenda Dramatica. First thought I must mention was that even though the promo came in a CDR, the two-sided sleeve attached had a strong artistic touch which I really liked.
The band was formed in the beginning of 2005 in Larissa from the three basic members of Black Winter. This one is their first promo recorded at Rock Sound Studio in Thessaloniki. Yeah, I know, this is not the most impressive biography in the world but everyone starts from somewhere.
The two songs included in this promo walk somewhere between Gothic / atmospheric and Black Metal. All these genres are blended in a quite mature way. Though I am not the biggest fan of Black Metal vocals, I can't say that I found the ones here annoying or anything. The songs can be considered of rich structure with lots of changes in the rhythm section. What the band should look out for is not to suffocate their songs with ideas and keep a good balance between simplicity and complexity. Eh, all this goes for the first song since the second one is a short, epilogue-like theme with keyboards and vocals.
In conclusion this promo shows a band that has a strong base, a core of ideas that simply needs time to spawn lots more of material. I look forward to hearing more from them.
