It has been a while since I met Tomas Lindberg at my Metal journey while I reviewed THE GREAT DECEIVER's latest offering Life Is Wasted On The Living. I can say that listening to that album was like discovering Lindberg's work for one more time, since the Swedish musician keeps amazing us with his unique incredible way of creating music. This time I have to deal with his other project, DISFEAR. These guys are one more mentally deranged example of what a well known Metal persona can offer to the Metal scene.
The band debuted with its A Brutal Sight Of Fear album, which was issued through Lost And Found Records. Since then, the band has released some great albums and has played live shows with bands like NASUM, ENTOMBED and ROTTEN SOUND. As you can see, the band has nothing to do with amateur kiddos, but we are talking about a super heavy combo that except from the visionary vocalist Tomas Lindberg and the two founding members (Pettersson & Frykman), you can also hear the guitar work of a guitarist that haunted my childhood dreams with his Death & Roll work at the Death Metal gods ENTOMBED.
Do you think that when I say that everything Mr. Lindberg touches turns to gold is too much? I don't think so. He has been the singer in the most influential melodic Death Metal band (AT THE GATES), he taught some pure Swedish Death Metal with THE CROWN, he shows the way for the future sound of Heavy Metal with THE GREAT DECEIVER and... he plays Rock & Roll in his own Hardcore way! What did you expect? He teams up with Cederlund for God's sake!
I was listening to ENTOMBED's Uprising some days ago and it is like I listen to a newer and slightly more modern version of it! Live The Storm has a totally Rock & Roll attitude that grabs you by the throat and smashes your head until your skull crashes down in little pieces. DISFEAR are back to kick some serious ass with their unbelievable raw power! The guitar work needs no comments since the band's two guitarists have this Rock & Roll meets Punk meets Death Metal thing that makes you wanna dance (in a totally Metal way) and tear the place apart. The good thing is that good music has to be combined with a more than good production. Thanks to the album's producer Kurt Ballou (CONVERGE's guitarist), the album is covered in a veil of heaviness that hits you like a Heavy Metal thunder!
There is nothing more to be said about these great musicians. I just still haven't found myself after listening to this album for so many times. Phew, it produces such a primitive feeling that you wanna get out of your house and beat everyone up! No excuses guys! Go get it now! And for the vinyl lovers... Yes, there is a vinyl edition.
