Blessed By A Broken Heart - Pedal To The Metal album cover

Question: what would you do if you wanted to look like MOTELY CRUE and sound like LINKIN PARK? That is the question that only BLESSED BY A BROKEN HEART can answer.

I must say that the things are simple when you have the almighty GGGarth Richardson (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, KISS, MOTLEY CRUE, RISE AGAINST, ATREYU, BIFFY CLYRO, NICKELBACK, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, TESTAMENT) on the production steering wheel whilst Century Media writes a massive Press release about this long and catchy band-name just to make everyone fall into the trap. But when the listener puts Pedal To The Metal on his/her deck, then the naked truth is inevitable. I must admit I caught up with BLESSED BY A BROKEN HEART's name, I thought that these guys could be in serious pain but I was deeply mistaken.

If there is one thing I can't stand is the constant mix of gore and clean-melodic vocals. Melodies are being buried under a heavy pile of screams without any meaning just to reach the LINKIN PARK style. I honestly couldn't distinguish the modern day version of MOTLEY CRUE-meets-JOURNEY that the Press release describes.

BLESSED BY A BROKEN HEART came from Canada with a hope that they could attract the 80's old-school audience and in the same time they are trying to catch the 14-year-old's ear with modern, less Metal techniques. This is not going to happen my friends. That is why the music we love is going straight to hell. That is why the only thing that survives from this album is the excellent production alone; nothing more.
