Hardcore suffered many changes and evolutions throughout time since it came out of the dark, in the last years from the 70s. It was a faster, rawer and even more aggressive way of Punk Rock, but soon it showed a personal feature. Bands as CHARGED G.B.H., DISCHARGE, RATTUS, DEAD KENNEDYS, BLACK FLAG and many others turned the style what it was. But then, a wave of bands with Thrash Metal influences, as D.R.I. and C.O.C. created Crossover, and many more came, until HATEBREED launched the foundations of a new way into Hardcore. It's modern, bitter, and extremely heavy, with the tempos being not as fast as the veterans from the past.

So, with these differences established, we can speak about the Swedish trio SOURCE OF IGNITION and their first album, "End of Compromise".

It's truly a modern Hardcore band, with the difference that they use fast tempos, but the heavy weight of their music and aggressiveness on it is really something that we hear, but as soon as we get used to their music, we can feel a melodic atmosphere permeating their songs. And the technique is far from the simplicity from the 3 chords that Hardcore fans are used to hear. It's a bit different, but it's very good.

Their sound quality is clear, near what modern Hardcore bands used on their works. So we can understand what they are playing, but the better part is when we deal with the instrumental tunes: the greater part of moderns bands of the style use that abrasive tunes from Metal core, but this trio prefer something more aggressive and not so technical. So it fits perfectly.

Their 10 songs are excellent, but of course we can make a list of their best moments: the ferocious "Awakening" (give a listening on what drums and bass guitars are doing on the rhythmic mass, with very good tempo changes) and "Reckoning Day" (with tempos not as fast as those found on the previous song, but as aggressive as it is), the introspective and bitter "Dark Side of Man" with its excellent vocals and guitar riffs (and you'll feel the presence of harsh melodies as well), the excellent work from guitars and drums on the abrasive tempos of "Hand of Destiny", the sinuous and harsh feeling sown on the vocals on "No More Compromise", and the oppressive work from guitars and bass guitar on "Revolving Disharmony".

These guys truly have future!
