This is the third EP from the guys from Arizona. They also have three full length albums in their ten years of existence. The quality of the production is up to par with any Sludge Metal and I feel it's even better than a lot of stuff that's coming out in the last few years.
You definitely want to hear more when you only have like 12-13 minutes of music and it will give me a chance to acquire the other albums and eps from their discography. Musically it's not mindblowing and stays in the style of what's done in Sludge Metal but it's pretty good nonetheless. I can hear the influences of slower bands like CROWBAR, HIGH ON FIRE and some CORROSION OF CONFORMITY. There is also that Post Metal jive coming in also. I can definitely feel they got some influence from bands like NEUROSIS and ISIS and that really got me really interested in the EP.
It's the progression from those pioneers in that style and I believe they might be able to branch out in that style if they get some much needed press and attention from the Metal World. They really sound like some really good ISIS but they vocals remind me of actually of CELTIC FROST, especially a song like "Dethroned Emperor'', its slow, methodical and crunching metal. It was a good start to a day that I know will be long at work! Great stuff.
