Psychopath Next Door

Legendary Finnish deathsters, NECROPSY, have been quite busy lately. Since their reunion back in 2008 they have released their debut full-length "Bloodwork", which was a long time coming but it was worth the wait, and they have also re-released through Century Media their entire demo collection in "Tomb of the Forgotten". Now they are back again with a vengeance with the release of their newest EP entitled "Psychopath Next Door".
The character of the band has not changed much and NECROPSY are still combining their proto-death metal with their thrash influences to their old-school Finnish Death Metal, giving us four songs full of brutality and anguish. The great vibe of the opening song, "For The Blood and Guts", sees the band switching with ease between thrash moments and slower tempos in order to maximize the impact of the song. Their thrashy parts are destructive while their heavier parts are sounding fucking huge, and with those guitar leads... the band just cannot go wrong.
"Severed As They Are" follows the more mid-tempo groove of the band while the sickening guitar riffs are spreading horror as the deep vocals crush any hope. The guitar solos that dwell within this song are completely unreal and dazzling. And then there are times when NECROPSY while let their paranoia take over, as is the case with "Twist To Kill" and it's devastating start. The riffs are fucking hellish to say the least, sounding absolutely brilliant and tying in with the face-melting solos, extending the nauseating boundaries of the band. The middle part of the song is brilliant for one simple reason: it will have you banging your head to their incredible groove relentlessly, while the ending sees the band taking on a towering posture and letting loose some of their heaviest riffs.
The title track, which is also the highlight of this EP, closes NECROPSY's latest work. Once again with the band building a concrete solid groove and combining to that their catastrophic riffs and deranged leads there is no doubt that these guys still got what it takes. In the most aggressive moments of the track you can simply feel all that anger being focused at you for crying out loud.
If you did not realize it with "Bloodwork" then "The Psychopath Next Door" will make sure that you get the point that NECROPSY are trying to make: They are back and they are furious!
