Since PANTERA's "Cowboys From Hell" has roll a lot of water in the seas and hundreds of moons have been risen, unfortunately, without Dimebag Darrell (RIP) among us; KAUZE is another one groove Metal band from Hollywood, California who follow Phil Anselmo and the bros' path, having a lot of creation in the heart and a bundle of nice melodies inside its sound. "Epiphany" named KAUZE's second E.p. and regarding to the sonic results, I hope to have soon some discography news from them because the first samples are quite positive.

Five tracks, duration of 24 minutes approximately are the containing stuff of "Epiphany" E.p. and the first similarities to bands like SUPERJOINT RITUAL, DOWN and DAMAGEPLAN are quite obvious: modern groove Metal, with clean death/ thrash characteristics in the throat / guitar correspondingly and a lot of technique, for example. Lane Steele's vocals remind me enough an Anselmo/ Billy mix, as Die Wachi's guitar style has to do a lot with PANTERA's tabs. Not bad at all, you might think; well, I dunno if is such a good thing to 'copy' someone who had succeeded with the same readings, two decades ago. It's 2010 and still, there are so many brand new music elements to start a career with. I like to hear a couple of influences in a newbie's effort showing his main orientation, but the 'copy' thing is unbearable. Nevertheless, "Parallel" is a great surprise inside the "Epiphany" content and maybe the only luminous exception in KAUZE's sonic sameness, while "U.R.A." carries some of the DISTURBED luster and the last "Turning Point" marks KAUZE's sound with its characteristic, catchy riff.

The solid sound of the E.p. that reached in my hands is quite pompous and the crystal-clear production does an excellent job, showing KAUZE's abilities with the best way. The future is unforeseen and uncertain though; KAUZE have the appropriate basis and the right music direction to do unbelievable things from now on, so long as taking the correct decisions and being unstuck from the beaten track. The only thing we can do, is just wait and see (listen) as well.
