'Pearls Deep' Video:
[MA GDPR YouTube] Invalid video id.'Pearls Deep,' the first single from Black Gold Buffalo's long-awaited debut album. Originally formed in East London in 2014, the band released a few almighty bangers, kept things low key for a few years, and then seemingly disappeared again. A line-up change, a move to the South East Coast and with lots of time spent writing under their belts, the reformed four-piece are ready to release their debut full-length, due out in April next year. The self-titled release tackles obstacles young people face growing up in the city, the highs and lows of inner city living, escapism, frustration etc.
BGB are still fronted by vocalist Keziah Stillwell, with central figure in underground dance music Hannah Holland on bass and production. Guitarist Marc Hayward and one of the most exciting percussianists in the industry Joy Joseph, who has played with the likes of Hot Chip and Jessie Ware, complete the line-up. Keziah had this to say on the track:
'Pearls Deep was written on a stormy night, in a tower block somewhere near the A10. Its about wanting to escape a brooding mood in the city, to just get up and go somewhere and nowhere. The song was written in London and recorded partly in Ramsgate's Big Jelly Studios, which is also where we shot the video.'
